Simple isn't always easy but when it comes to digital signage it's very important. Displaying all the bells and whistles on the screen at the same time is not the best option for your viewers. It's overwhelming and worse, it's distracting. When your screens are distracting viewers can't pin point which information they need to focus on.

Before you start to design your screen, think about the most important content you need to share. Let that take center stage, make that be the largest area of the screen. You can add supporting content (time/date/weather) but keep the supporting content to a minimum. Don't forget that you can always rotate information. You don't need everything up on the screen at the same time.
