Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2 is a compliance framework that provides rigorous criteria for how organizations should protect customer data.
SOC 2 is an industry standard for technology companies that use the cloud to store and process data. When a SasS company that you work with passes a SOC 2 audit, it gives assurance by an independent, third-party, auditor that your data is being managed in a controlled and audited environment.
Now that we have successfully completed our Type I examination, we are currently in our observation period for our Type II exam! Completing a Type 1 examination was an important step for us because it established the foundation of our security control design, but we are very excited to take the next step and pursue a Type II examination to assess how those controls function over a period of time.
